First Outing...headed to visit the doctor

Yesterday was so much fun! We got out of the house to go see Lucy's doctor. He was wonderful! We got Lucy all dressed and ready for the big outting. I had bought this dress a while ago and have been dying for her to wear it! So cute!!! Her checkup went great and we are happy to report we have a very healthy baby! She has her days and nights very confused...but she is so dang cute we don't mind too much. The picture of her and Adam was not posed. Adam was telling her as we were waiting for the doctor how beautiful she was and so I thought I would snap a pic of them, as I was couting 1, 2 we hear a loud sound from her diaper...sure enough we had a dirty diaper. The picture just captured it so well!

I had so much fun today having Lucy model her new tutu her Gram bought her. We had it hung on the door at the hospital and now we had her wear it. She has room to grow into it, but it was still so much fun. My sister Megan and I then decided it would be fun to try on lots of different outfits...so we did! It is a dream having little Lucy! Life is so great! Adam and I enjoy every minute with her. She had a great night of sleep last night and so did we, we are thankful!

Lucy Ann Nuse Has Arrived!!!!

August 21, 2008 was the greatest day! Lucy arrived at 3:30pm after a wonderful, healthy and safe delivery. She has stolen our hearts! The Lord has blessed us so much by this precious little baby girl. There has never been any event this amazing. We are overwhelmed by our love for her! Adam is an amazing Dad and she has him completely wrapped around her finger. He has been great, I have still not changed her diaper, as he takes that full responsibility! What a champ! We were treated like royalty in the hospital as the nurses and doctors were incredible. So much more to come, but wanted to update you on our blessing! Life is great and we are so blessed!

WOW...this is INSANE!

We are still amazed we have not welcomed our baby yet, but we know the day is coming soon...how long have I been saying this? I honestly started this blog to update you on our baby and how we adjust to parenthood...hummm we still don't know. We are going to the doctor often 3 times last week and 2 times this week to keep checking on Lanky. So far so good, they check breathing, movement, measurements, fluid and so on. The first time Adam and I had the test, which is done through an ultra sound, the tech said "everything is good, but your baby is not breathing" - WHAT? NOT BREATHING?...she started to laugh as I was about to cry and she said "I mean your baby is not practice breathing". We had not heard of this before. So I am breathing for the baby right now but a few times every 10 minutes the baby will take some practice breaths which helps the doctors know the lungs are developing. Finally after we cleared that up, the baby was practicing and Adam and I were relieved.
My mom came in town this past weekend as well as my sister Jennie and her son Gannon. It was a blessing as they entertained us, helped take our mind off the wait, and played the "what if the baby comes tonight" game...which Adam and I have played for 3 weeks straight. My mom stayed in town and is helping us wait...yeah! We managed to pamper ourselves today getting our toes and nails done and met Adam for lunch. It was great!
I hope more than anyone we have news soon! God will bless our life before we know it, and we are thankful!

Where is our Baby?

Wow! This is so hard waiting and waiting and waiting. Adam and I are going nuts. This situation never occurred to me, going past my due date? I never even thought that would happen. The problem is Adam and I had set in our heads the baby would be coming on the 8th, when that didn't happen we kept saying, well at least on the 13th the baby will be here. Okay, now today is the 16th...is today the day? My mom, Jennie and Gannon came to Memphis to keep Adam and I company as the days seem to slowly creep by. I had been feeling a little different on the 13th and was sure we were headed in, and to be honest since then I have felt so great I wonder if we will ever meet our baby. I have been walking and walking and walking...since that is what is suppose to move labor forward ~ still no luck. We know our little one will come in God's timing, but this waiting game is making me NUTS! We are still so thankful for the Olympics as last nights race with Michael Plelps again had us on the edge of our seats. The entertainment is priceless!!

We are so thankful for all our family and friends phone calls and text! It keeps our spirits high! Enjoy your weekend and we hope to deliver some news before too long!

A Day at the Doctor

Today Adam and I hung out at the doctors office, literally. We were there for 4 hours. It was crazy. There were babies being born left and right and the doctor had to leave because she was the one "on call". We had an ultra sound done, and got to see out little one sleeping very comfortably. We tried to get some facial shots, but that didn't work so well. We saw smacking lips, and blinking eyes, and then back to sleep. It was so special. The good news, I am dilated to a 1...yeah! We go back on Thursday for another ultra sound, and hopefully news with more progress. Our due date is tomorrow...maybe we will get lucky! Random fact, only 8% of women actually give birth on their due date, according to our doctor...interesting!

On to the Olympics! Who watched the men's gymnastics last night, unreal right! Such passion, I loved it. How about our Oklahoma Sooner boy! I kept telling Adam I thought they could be friends. He was so encouraging and awesome. I loved that others cheered loud from home for the swimming, that is so fun! More of that to come tonight! I hope our women's gymnastics pulls through, they are tonight, right?

The week we have been waiting for

This week has been set out in our minds since the first part of December. As you can see by reading we are DYING to meet our baby! This morning Adam and I were chatting about what we had planned this week...well not much, we hope we are at the hospital. We are trying to go about life normal so the days go by quickly...but the baby is a constant on our minds. Everyone keeps telling us to make sure we relax, get sleep, enjoy time together...okay we have done that, now we are ready. We spent Saturday briskly walking around the neighborhood trying to help induce labor, a couple of 45 minute walks - my theory...no pain - no gain. Well Sunday was a different story, there was pain so...I happily relaxed on the couch and watched the Olympics. That theory went out the window quickly. Adam and I did a few things, and he had a a fantasy draft which made me not feel so guilty for not being a "fun wife".

On to the Olympics....how about the Men's 4 X100 race last night. Unreal, Adam and I were standing up yelling at the TV...yes for the swimming competition. It was so exciting. Way to go USA!

Olympics are here, but the baby is not

Ever since Adam and I found out we were having a baby we have always pinpointed in our mind the awesome date of 8-8-08. We knew we would be getting ready for the baby at that point and thought that could be the day! Well, we had a doctors appointment yesterday and I haven't made any progress. Of course the doctor tells us that doesn't mean much, but me being so competitive...it does mean a lot! I had in my mind being in the hospital with Adam watching opening ceremonies...that is so silly I know! We even hosted our own Nuse Olympics on the 4th of July...in honor of Lanky. As you can see Adam was representing team Lucy in his pink shirt.

So, what have I done...walked, walked, walked...and walked. Adam and I went with Wrigley to the dog park last night, which we always do, and instead of venturing home we took a walk. Then I woke up this morning and Wrigley and I went for about a 35-minute walk. Mind you, I had not been super religious on my walking lately since it has been so darn hot, but today with this amazing 73 degree weather I went after it. Anyway, I will let you know if walking an old wives tale to induce labor? or does it really work? We will see!!!

A side from that, my girlfriend in the neighborhood is due in October and was just put on bed rest. Tonight Adam and I will WALK over to her house and watch the opening ceremonies with her and her husband! We will be in good company!

About to POP!

Boy? Girl?

It seems to be the question Adam and I talk about every single day. Who will "Lanky" (Hank/Lucy) be? Are we going to be having tea parties and playing dress up, or playing with trucks and footballs? Today marks one week until the "due date". We are both very anxious, excited and yes, a little nervous! Our bags are packed, the car seat is in place and the video camera is charged! We visit the doctor tomorrow to get an update on how our little one is doing.

In the meantime, Adam and I continue to put our head down and work. Adam is in the prime selling season as football is right around the corner, yes we have been counting that too! He is loving his new job and excited about what this football season will bring. As long as the Tigers don't interfere with Sooner games he should be good to go! Tippi Toes is also in its busiest time, this is when we enroll the majority of our children. Megan(my sister) will be taking over my job while I enjoy some time learning to be a mom. She is amazing and I have so much confidence in her, I know this will be the best year yet!
