Hank 4 months and rice cereal

Hank had his first taste of "real food" with rice cereal! He turned 4 months old so we thought we would celebrate! He was like a bird opening his mouth but didn't really know what to do with it. Very possible he could have been confused with what was going on because all of us took our turn to feed him. He is such a little love bug!

Lola visits the hospital...again

Poor Lola, she has the worst luck. On Wednesday I got a call from the sitter that Lola didn't seem like herself. She said she didn't have a fever but just wanted to be held. I had a franchise owner in town and was working Monday - Wednesday and we had plans to leave for Florida on Friday to visit Uncle and Fave and for Adam to compete in a 1/2 iron man. I was thinking she was just worn out from having some extra play time while I was away and being away from home. We were all pretty worn out so on Thursday which would normally be a school day I decided to keep the kids home so they were charged up for our trip. Lola who normally sleeps great was a early riser and sounded like she had a frog in her throat. Still no temp. I put her down for nap early and noticed her breathing became labored. I called the doctor asking if they thought I should bring her in. They recommended it would be good just for a check up. I ended up calling Adam so I could drop off Lucy and Hank at his office because Lola went from bad to worse. She was having a hard time catching her breathe, wheezing, and coughing. As I was in the waiting room I began getting really worried and by the time the doctor saw Lola she was really sounding terrible. The doctor wanted us to get admitted at the hospital to monitor her breathing. She had a bad cause of Croup. I had heard of croup before but never where you had to go to the hospital. It was terrible. On top of having croup she was dehydrated so they had to put her on an IV. That was the absolute worst 30 minutes of them trying to find a vein that would work. She was strapped to a table crying saying "Hold me Mommy" It was breaking my heart. Lola would cough so much she would throw up. The hospital was so delayed in helping us cleaning up and it was just a horrible experience. At about 8pm that night they gave her a steroid shot to help reduce the swelling in her air passage - this came 6 hours after the doctor ordered it. Words do not describe how terrible the hospital was to us in a time of need. PRAISE GOD that steroid began to help! She was doing so much better within an hour. Adam was able to get Lucy and Hank asleep and come up to visit for a while. Lola fell asleep on me and we slept the night in the hospital chair. The next day she was so much better aside from her cough and ate some peaches. We were released at about noon. The rest of the weekend we laid low. Lola was so awesome and so cooperative. I was so proud of her!

My 3 sweeties! Today we have been hanging out at the house, I have been catching up on laundry while the girls have been playing "teacher" and Hank has been entertained by them. They stopped for a minute to chat with Hank and I captured this picture. It is not very often I get all 3 of them looking in the direction of my camera...I was thrilled!

Lola's Date with Daddy

Lola got to have a special date with Dad. She had been wanting to go visit the horse Cindy that lives down the road from us. That was what she decided she wanted to do. Although it may look like in this picture Lola didn't want to go...it was quite the opposite she was crying because she wanted to go so bad and didn't want to waste time taking this picture. We love taking the kids one on one for dates. There is something so special about that undivided time, getting to chat and enjoying the day together.

After the visit with Cindy, Adam took Lola to enjoy her first banana split. She loved it!

Lucys First Fieldtrip

I was amazed when I got the permission slip for Lucy for a field trip. Her first trip was to the Pumpkin patch with her classmates. It was so much fun seeing Lucy interact with her school friends and meet so many moms. Her teachers are so sweet and we both had a great time. Lucy decided this was her pumpkin patch hat. Not sure why she decided that but I went with it and thought she looked adorable.

Thumb Sucker - NO MORE!!!

When I was pregnant with Lucy we went to an ultra sound appointment and on the tiny screen we would see Lucy sucking her thumb. We were amazed and thought it was so adorable. After she was born she quickly found her thumb. Once her hair began to grow in she became multi talented and would twirl her hair with one hand and suck her other thumb. The problem being she would twirl so hard she would yank out her hair. Over time we noticed her pig tales were lopsided due to this twirling and began noticing her teeth were turning out due to the thumb sucking. We tried so many things, bitter nail, gum, rewarding for not thumb sucking. Lucy understood it wasn't good but it was a habit. I was expressing my concern to a friend that this will be the hardest habit to break and I felt so frustrated - she led me to Mavala. I had it in my shopping cart for weeks online but didn't purchase right away because none of us want our child to be uncomfortable, but after our trip to Tulsa when she was lacking sleep and her hair was thinning even more I purchased it. 4 days in it has been the greatest purchase yet! It is a horrible tasting ointment that we put on her finger. There are no side effects aside from the bitter taste left in her mouth. Adam and I both put it on our nails before hers so we would know what she was tasting and 4 days later that stuff is still on there. It says it is so powerful so you only apply it every 2 days for a month. I am so excited and hope this is the end of her thumb sucking!! Way to go Miss Lucy!

A perfect sports day!

Adam and I drove with the kids to San Marcos on Friday afternoon. We spent the evening with Adam's parents. Then we woke up the next morning at 4:30am to get on the road to get to Dallas to watch the OU/TX game which started at 11:00. We were worried that it would be crazy since we were coming from the same way the UT fans would be driving. We arrived about 9:30am enough time to get into the fair and enjoy some very amusing people watching, the ESPN college game day, OU cheers and what makes OU/TX so much fun the split of the stadium.

Here is my family at a bar in KC watching the OU game. The funny thing is my TX family pictured above and my family below are all in Kansas City since my cousin Annie was getting married. To give you insight on how competitive our family is, they haven't all seen each other in months but still had to watch the game at separate bars.

The OU games ended about 3:00, Adam and I quickly left the stadium to drive to Arlington to make it to the Rangers ALCS playoff game. Since the owner of the team Adam works for the Hooks is Nolan Ryan who also owns the Rangers we got some awesome VIP treatment. We were invited to a pre-party where Nolan Ryan was the first to greet us as we walked in along with Adam's bosses who are Nolan's sons Reid and Reese. We went to the game with 2 of Adam's best friends Procailo (who came in from Chicago) and Stewart (who lives in Dallas). These guys are so great and a blast to be with. Such a memorable night!

There was 2 1/2 hours of rain delays but we had tickets to the post party so we had to stick it out. Like the champs we were we finally made it back to our hotel at 2:00am. That's right we were up for 22 hours - all so fun and so worth it! We had a total blast!

A weekend with Grandmommy & Poppy

This past weekend the went went to see Adam's parents in San Marcos! Adam and I continued our trip to Dallas for the OU and Rangers game while the kids stayed back and had a blast! Daisy had so many activities for the kids and they had a total blast. She was nice enough to send us pictures while we were gone that certainly brought smiles to our faces. Adam and I were so grateful for a little trip on our own and knew the kids would enjoy every minute with Grandmommy & Poppy.

Lucy's OLDEST sister

Are you shocked? So was I when Lucy started talking about her oldest sister. I knew I didn't give birth to someone before her...ADAM....nope he was sure he didn't have any children either. Well we have started to learn a ton about her "oldest sister". She is one of many imaginary friends Lucy has. Every single day Lucy will tell me something her oldest sister has done, or told her. Like...Lola crying....Lucy what happened to Lola - my oldest sister said she didn't want Lola to play right now.

Or...Lucy its time for bed....Mom, my oldest sister said tonight we get to stay up very late.

And....How was school today Lucy...it was great my oldest sister and I played with our friends and ate lunch.

On Tuesday I went to wake up Lucy for school and she said "Mom are you going to get Duffy?" Me - "Duffy? Who is Duffy?"

L - "She's my friend and she is going to school"

Me - "Ok come on Duffy let's go downstairs"

Lucy holds her hand all the way down the stairs. I get busy and forget about our new friend Duffy. I get the girls toast before we leave for school and I give Lucy hers.

L - "Mom, where is Duffy's toast"

Me - "Honey, I think she wants a bite of yours, can you share"

L - "No, she said she wants her own piece"

So I made toast for imaginary Duffy

On our way into mothers day out Lucy asked me if I would introduce Duffy to her teachers.

The teachers were AMAZING! Lucy actually introduced her and both teachers bent down to greet Duffy. Miss Jeannie said "Wow, Duffy today we are studying the letter D and that is what your name starts with"

I am in love with Rainbow and these teachers!!!

Anyway, we have many imaginary friends in our home that are very welcome! I wish I could bottle up all of Lucy's comments and save them forever!!
