For Adam's 30th Birthday I was so excited to be able to surprise him. His amazing friends helped me out so much to pull off the biggest surprise he has ever had. The weekend was a blast and it was so fun celebrating my favorite person in the world. So here is what happened.
On Friday: Adam's boss cancelled some meetings he had and told him they had an important afternoon meeting he had to go to. I told him the girls and I were in town and wanted to grab a quick lunch. We went to Brewster Street which was right across from him office. Little did he know, this was the first surprise. Sitting at lunch with us was one of his great friends Adam Procailo and his girlfriend Alexa. He was shocked. They flew in from Chicago. We told him there was no meeting and he had the rest of the day off. He immediately started planning what "he thought" we should do. Little did he know we had the whole weekend figured out. We decided to take them to our house and put the girls down for a nap.
While the girls were napping I told Adam I had to run an errand...which ended up taking me a little longer. I went to the airport and picked up another one of his great friends Erik who flew in from OKC. As we were driving back home, Buckley one of his awesome high school friends was driving into town. We met, Erik jumped in the car with Buckley and followed me to our house. I walked in the house and about 5 minutes later Erik & Buckley knocked on the door - SURPRISE #2!
Adam was in heaven with some of his favorite people. The boys started playing "bags/cornhole" and enjoying time together. We went and grabbed some Mexican food and brought it home. Got the girls in bed and I told Adam I had to run to the store to get breakfast food for the morning. Adam was in heaven with all these people that he still wasn't thinking there may be more to come. I took another trip to the airport to pick up his big bro from the Sigma Chi house Scott and his girlfriend Kristin. When we arrived home the guys were in the backyard still playing games. By this time Milam came over and the boys were getting rowdy!!! I went to the backyard and then Scott and Kristin came up behind Adam and said "we have next game" - his jaw dropped. Their flight had been delayed so it was about 11:30pm! This day was full of surprises!
The next morning Adam had many plans, but we kept putting a wrench in them so everything would work to "our plan". When everyone woke up there was more bags/cornhole - and then Adam wanted to take everyone for pizza. I told him I wasn't feeling well and I needed to stay home. It was funny...normally he would ask more questions but he was so excited to have everyone at our house he just said "ok I hope you feel better". Erik and Procailo were instructed to keep Adam gone for a few hours - that was no problem when they were headed to watch football, drink beer and eat. I worked around the house trying to get it "ready" but not noiticiable for the next surprise. I was cooking and cleaning and running back and forth to Junes house to store stuff. The girls were helpful too!!
Everyone came home and I told Adam I had a table reserved at Brewsters to go to the singing piano. Alexa told Adam she had friends in Corpus so Alexa, Procailo, Scott and Kristin were going to swing by their "friends" and then meet us. Since "the babysitter was running late" - we never actually had one planned, the Milams were going to pick me up and I would meet Erik, Buckley and Adam there. The boys left, Procailo took a spin around the block and all hands were on deck for the biggest surprise. The food was getting set out, I put the girls to bed, balloons put up, cake out and people started coming.
This is where my Oscar comes into play...about 7:20 I called Adam and told him that I was so sick and throwing up, I had sent the sitter home and needed help. I started crying telling him I was so sorry I ruined his birthday weekend - he believed EVERY SINGLE WORD and within about 2 minutes he and the boys were headed back to our house.
The lights flash up on the house and everyone is in place - Adam runs to the door and SURPRISE - about 30 people in our living room to celebrate Adam's 30th birthday! He was surprise beyond words and so grateful. He could not believe how it was all pulled off. The night was so much fun and most importantly Adam had a total blast!
I could not begin to tell you how many games were played but this is where the boys hung out all weekend.
